Why do schools need uniforms? Most people think it's just about discipline. But there is a BIG business behind it.
First, let's talk about the student.
Uniform creates equality. In a class of 40, you have children of fishermen, children of Mobil staff, children of traders. Without uniform, that class becomes a fashion competition.
The poor child feels ashamed. Uniform removes that shame. Everyone looks the same. Everyone can focus.
Second, security. If my school uniform is blue and white, and you see someone in red inside my school compound, you know immediately
- this person is not part of us. Uniform is like a company ID card. It protects students. Third, discipline. When you wear a uniform, your brain knows - I am not at home. I am not at the beach. I am at work. Just like I wear coverall to go to site, students wear uniform to go to learn. Now, the business side - which many people don't see. One school with 500 students needs 1,000 uniforms every year. Each uniform is N12,000. That is N12 million business for ONE school in Eket. In Akwa Ibom, we have over 1,400 schools.
That is a BILLION NAIRA industry every year just on school uniforms. Tailors, fabric sellers, branding guys, everyone is feeding from that system. So when a school says "we need uniform," they are not just enforcing rules. They are creating equality for students, security for parents, and jobs for our community. That is why I chose to be in the uniform business. Because school will never stop. Students will always need unitorms.
Thank you.
