Health as wealth

Post by Miss Gold »

*"Health as Wealth"* is the idea that your health is your most valuable asset - more valuable than money.

Here's the core of it:

- *Health makes wealth possible*: Without energy, focus, and physical ability, it's hard to work, earn, or enjoy what you earn.
- *Health saves wealth*: Being healthy helps you avoid huge medical bills, lost income from being sick, and burnout.
- *Health _is_ wealth in how it feels*: Just like money gives you freedom and options, good health gives you freedom to travel, play, work, spend time with family, and do what you want.
- *It needs investment*: Just like you save money, you invest in health through sleep, good food, exercise, stress management, and check-ups. Small daily deposits add up.

The phrase is often used to remind people not to sacrifice their health just to chase money, because if you lose your health, the money can't fully replace it.

Here’s a simple example:

*Two coworkers, Tolu and Emeka, both earn the same salary.*

- *Tolu* stays up late every night working for extra pay, skips meals, drinks a lot of energy drinks, and never exercises. He makes an extra 50k a month, but after a year he’s constantly tired, gets sick often, and spends 200k on hospital bills.

- *Emeka* sleeps 7-8 hours, walks 30 minutes a day, cooks more at home, and takes his leave days. He doesn’t make that extra 50k, but he rarely gets sick, has more energy at work, and actually enjoys his weekends with his family.

At the end of the year, Tolu has a little more money in the bank, but Emeka has more _usable_ wealth - energy, time, and freedom to live his life. That’s “Health as Wealth” in action.
