A Better Way to Observe Animals and Complete the Field Guide

Post by Jerry »

One thing I think can make the Wolf Globe more interesting is the new observation system. I like the idea because it gives members another way to learn about animals while playing the game. Instead of only focusing on hunting and fighting, we can also spend time watching animals, learning their behaviour, and collecting useful information about them.

1. How the Observation System Works

Each type of animal will have its own observation meter for every country. This means that observing a particular animal in one country will not automatically complete the observation for that animal in another country.

The observation meter increases by 1% every minute when an animal is clearly visible. If a member is stalking the animal, the meter increases twice as fast. Every bite adds 5%, while witnessing special behaviours such as resting, herding, making alarm sounds, bleeding, or attracting scavengers adds another 10%.

I think this is a good way to reward members for paying attention to what happens around them. It also makes the game feel more realistic because animals do different things, and members need to observe them to learn more.

2. Why Hunting Is Still Important

The observation meter can only reach 80% until the member or someone in their pack brings down an animal of that type in the same country. The final kill then completes the observation process.

I think this balance is important because it gives both observation and hunting a purpose. Members who enjoy watching animals can make progress, while hunters still play an important role in completing the process.

It can also encourage pack members to work together. One member may spend time observing an animal, while another helps with the hunt. This makes teamwork more useful and gives members a reason to cooperate.

3. Making the Field Guide More Useful

When an animal reaches 100% observation, the Field Guide can use the collected information to fill in details such as its behaviour, seasons, and useful materials.

This can save members time because they will not have to discover every single detail on their own. However, members must still provide their own photos or videos to receive the full photo-based reward.

I like this part because it rewards both game activity and personal effort. The system can help members learn about animals, but it still gives them a reason to go out and capture their own wildlife images.

4. How Automatic Stalking Helps

The stalking feature is another useful addition. Members can choose a distance between 0.5 and 5 kilometres, allowing their wolf to follow an animal automatically.

Stalking ends when the first bite happens, the wolf travels, 30 minutes pass, or the animal dies.

This feature can make observation easier, especially for members who do not want to keep following an animal manually. It can also help them gain observation points while preparing for a hunt.

My Final Thoughts

Overall, I think the new observation system can make the Wolf Globe more enjoyable and rewarding. It gives members more things to do besides hunting, makes the Field Guide more useful, and creates more opportunities for teamwork. If it works smoothly, it could encourage members to explore different countries, discover more animal behaviours, and spend more time learning about the wildlife in the game.
